Lock Down: A Poem

Lock down, everyone in the same situation
No one can go out
Only for essentials
Just to the shop for food
Get to the shop a line queuing
Social distancing a new thing
2 metres apart
People with masks
A new norm? Could it be?
Lock down, everyone stay in the same situation
Can’t go out unless you exercise for an hour, in your local neighbourhood
Your home is your world
Your t.v. your companion
Your phone calls a connection
Video calling a comfort
Wifi in use, welcome to buffering
A new norm? Could it be?
Lock down, everyone in the same situation
At home the four walls are your world
You live alone, bliss for a while, then despair
You live with family, hesitation, frustration, despair, appreciation..
You live in a house share, unknown, hesitation, coexistence, cooperation
Outside space, a garden luxury
No garden, caged in, no air
Home deliveries an abundance an every day occurrence
A new norm? Could it be?
Lock down, everyone in the same situation
New beginnings, time to complete things you don’t usually have time to do.
Time to assess, time to start something new
Art, music, cooking, learn a new language, gardening
Time to set goals and achieve them
Time to organize and throw out the unnecessary
No excuses, don’t doubt yourself
The time is now, no need to wait, just do.
A new norm? Could it be?
