Our fitness guru George on New Years’ Resolutions & How to Keep Them

Now the jolly season has come to an end, it’s time to burn off all the chocolate and treats and make our New Years’ Resolution to be healthier than ever for the New Year!

The best way is to balance our diets and gradually start participating in exercise. If you’ve been eating badly, it’s key not to go cold turkey as you’re likely to relapse and won’t be able to sustain a healthy lifestyle. My top tips to you would be to aim for three relatively balanced meals with snacks in between.

If you’re new to exercise the best thing to do is just get started - movement is medicine even if it’s going for a light jog or a brisk walk. The main thing is that you’re making the conscious effort to make a positive change to your life.  Regular exercise and a balanced diet will have you feeling on top of the world, full of energy and as happy as you have ever been! Here are a few meal options you can get started on your journey to better health.

Breakfast options: blueberries with low fat yoghurt, Scrambled eggs with whole meal toast, Boiled eggs, fruit smoothies, granola cereal.

Snacks: chicken flavoured protein bites, almond nuts, Oat bars

Lunch options: chicken with rice and vegetables, salmon with grilled asparagus, tofu with quinoa and salad, chicken pasta.

Dinner options: prawn green stir fry with Singapore noodles, minced beef with veg and whole meal rice, beetroot burgers with sweet potatoes.

So, there’s a few options to help you to get started. the most difficult part of the journey is the start so once you get past the start you will be flying. Let’s make 2020 our best and healthiest year yet!
