Fried Dumplings
Serves/Makes: 4
  • 200g (7oz) self-raising flour
  • 50g (1¾oz) margarine
  • 125ml (4½fl oz) water
  • 1tsp sugar
  • pinch salt
  • vegetable oil
  • Sift the sugar and salt into the flour in a bowl.   Rub in the margarine, then make a well in the centre. 
  • Gradually mix in the water to make a soft dough.  
  • Divide the dough into small balls and knead each for ½ to 1 minute.
  • Fry the cakes in the oil on a moderate heat until they are golden brown on both sides.
